JAWS statement on the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election

Jews Against White Supremacy denounces Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s genocidal presidential nominee. As numerous Palestinians, including the martyr Refaat Alareer, have made clear: the Democratic party and the Biden-Harris administration are directly responsible for the ongoing genocide in Palestine, and Harris has shown no signs of breaking from Biden’s genocidal legacy.

Just on Tuesday, the IOF bombed the al-Mawasi camp in a so-called “safe zone” in southern Gaza using 1-ton bombs supplied by the Biden-Harris administration, killing at least 40 people and injuring at least another 60, with many more still missing. The same day, the Biden-Harris administration participated in a joint U.S.-U.K. strike on a school in al-Janadiya, Yemen, killing two Yemeni schoolgirls and injuring nine more.

We recognize that both the Democratic and Republican parties are dedicated to serving capitalism and imperialism. We expect both parties to do everything they can to continue the genocide in Palestine, just as we expect them to brutalize communities across the U.S. and the globe.

We reject the spectacle of ‘debate’ between these two capitalist-imperialist parties whose policies do not differ in relation to Palestinians and other oppressed groups. We further denounce the capitalist class’s charade that teaches USians from their first days in school that their sham elections are the one and only ticket to meaningful political change.

The truth is that fascism will not fall by a vote, and neither will U.S. empire, which continues to be the greatest menace to life on earth. The urgency of liberation for all demands that we dream bigger in our methods and in our analysis, and we continue to look to the resistance of colonized people as a compass, from Haiti to Palestine.

We are as clear as ever: Palestine will be free.
