JAWS Statement on Netanyahu, “israel,” & the United Nations

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flies from his genocidal settler colony to ours, JAWS calls on New Yorkers to join us in the streets to protest his appearance at the UN General Assembly.

Nearly a year into the genocide in Gaza, as his failed settler state lashes out and threatens the invasion and ethnic cleansing of Lebanon, his very invitation makes yet another mockery of the UN, which continues to be feckless in the face of world-historic injustice—not from lack of effort from countries in the Global South, who have voted with Palestine numerous times, but as a result of its design and control by U.S. imperialism.

That same imperialist system sponsors Netanyahu and his spiraling colony as they act with impunity in Palestine, Lebanon, and across the region. It is fitting that Netanyahu was rumored earlier this week to consider handing off his UN speaking gig to another criminal in his government. As repugnant as Netanyahu is, he is also just another replaceable cog in the death machine that is trampling this planet.

We must organize to end this entire horrific imperialist system, and we hope to see you in the streets to build power toward that goal.
