Ahmed Sa’adat Week of Action

Ahmed Sa'adat, the General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, has been held in Israeli prison for over 20 years! Like many Palestinians his family was expelled for their homeland and grew up as refugees. He became politically active in 1967 when he joined the student movement in the West Bank. He became General Secretary in 2001 after the assassination of Ali Abu Mustafa and has held the position ever since. He is also one of the three PFLP members elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council. 

Following the PFLP assisination of the zionist minister of tourism in 2001 in response to the killing of Ali Abu Mustafa, he was imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority. In 2006, after being elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council, the zionist army stormed his prison and abducted him and five other Palestinian political prisoners. He was then put on trial in zionist military court. Up until then had been held in prison with no sentence or charge. Israeli military court is extremely un-relegated and has only one purpose: to uphold the occupation and further marginalize the Palestinian political structure. 

In 2008, he was sentenced to thirty years in the occupation's prisons for staying true and steadfast in his quest for Palestinian liberation, self-determination, sovereignty, and decolonization. 

Since his imprisonment, he has been arbitrarily put in solitary confinement many times. 

He is not the only Palestinian held in zionist prison on political charges. In 2025, there are around 5,000 Palestinian political prisoners including Khalida Jarrar, Marwan Barghouti, Ameer Makhoul, and many others. 

Jews Against White Supremacy stands firmly in solidarity with these heroes of the resistance against zionist colonization and with the Palestinian liberation movement. As Jews, it is incredibly important to not only reject zionism but actively support and encourage anti-imperialist and decolonial movements in Palestine and the rest of the world. 

This week, starting on January 15th, all those dedicated to Palestinian liberation and the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners must spread awareness, educate your comrades, organize or join protests, and express solidarity!
